Today I handed out a reading/short assignment labelled 'Classical Liberalism'. We have discussed the evolution of individualist thought over time by a myriad of humanists and philosophers - these ideas congealed to create the ideology of Classical Liberalism. The sheet that you were given today illustrates how the ideas of Classical Liberalism can be seen in both politics and also in economics. It also introduced you to John Stuart Mills and Adams Smith. Tomorrow, as a class, we will investigate these ideas further.
Don't forget that the worksheet is to be filled out tomorrow!
Be sure to read the excerpts from the famous essays included in the handout - On Liberty by John Stuart Mills and The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith.
Also, you have seen your marks for the multiple choice section of the Unit Exam. I have also begun marking the written response and have been impressed by the improvement from your Quiz to the Unit Exam - good job guys!
